There are many ways to make breakfast oats, soaking them over night is one simple way I like to use so it's quick to prepare in the morning. There is something about oats that I just LOVE, the thick creamy consistency, the warmth it provides my tummy and they are so incredibly filling. If I know I have a busy day or a big workout lined up, I have a bowl of oats for slow releasing energy. Energy comes from the carbohydrate in both the oats and banana! Mmm my mouth is watering just writing this post.
I use a mason jar however any tub with a lid will do.
Ingredients 1/2 Cup of Oats 1/2-3/4 Cup of unsweetened Almond Milk (depending on how creamy you like it) 1/2 a sliced banana (x2) A dash of cinnamon or nutmeg
Directions 1) Stir it all up in the tub, using the first 1/2 of a banana 2) Place in the fridge to soak overnight 3) When ready to eat, pour into a saucepan and cook, keep stirring until it is a thick and creamy consistency. If a microwave is more convinent for you, pop in a bowl and heat for a couple of minutes. 4) Cook for 3 minutes. The length of time will need to be adjusted by the amount of milk you use, it's a bit of trial and error. 5) Serve with the rest of the sliced banana or toppings of choice.
Cooking idea: Add some blueberries to the mix about half way through your cooking time, they burst and give a delicious antioxidant explosion!!
